Infectious Disease Serology testing is provided through the Special Chemistry Laboratory at the University of Kentucky, Chandler Hospital. Most high volume serology testing is performed on site. This includes serologies to detect infections such as HIV, HCV and HBV, or serologies mean to detect serostatus like CMV and rubella testing. This facility also provides Interferon gamma release assay for the detection of latent tuberculosis. In addition to having both CAP accreditation and CLIA certification, the Special Functions Laboratory is licensed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky to perform syphilis serology. The more esoteric or low volume serologic assays are provided as send out tests to approved reference laboratories or to the Department of Health.
